Choose Barceloneta to combine the old town with a walk to the sea. For Bogatell or Mar Bella, plan a separate beach visit and check the connection from your accommodation. Do not base the choice on broad labels such as ‘quiet’: crowds change by day and location. Check beach flags and instructions on arrival, bring few valuables and agree who will watch them when you swim.
